Hi Guys

So I decided I will be moving from my Boyu TL550 to a new DT and sump setup.

The DT will be 1000mm L x 500mm W x 350mm H = 175 Liters / 46 Gallons and the sump will be 800mm L x 400mm W x 400mm H = 128L / 34 Gallons

I will be moving my livestock from my tl550 to this tank after it has finished the cycle. ill be keeping mostly LPS coral and my fish.

The following items are the equipment I have been looking at to use on this setup

1) The lights :

2) Protein Skimmer

3) Return Pump - I still have to learn how you work out what return pump to use, any advice would be great. I have been looking at the SICCE Easy Line Pumps.

Thanks guys

The Odyssea fixture is a lower end fixture. You would need to upgrade bulbs to keep any light demanding coral species. I have had one and it served me well with ATI bulbs. The bulbs themselves will run about 80 to 100 American dollars here. There are better t-5 fixtures with individual reflectors that would let you keep even more light demanding species. I don't know enough about led's to comment on them. Reef octopus makes good skimmers.

The led's look kind of like the cheaper fixtures that big chain pet stores carry around here. I know that those ones can't support many lps if any at all.

yes on skimmer , no on the leds , and as crooked reef said the t-5s will work as long as you put real good bulbs in it. Also you get what you pay for and the light will not last. I know a reefer that uses them but he buys a new one every year so it will not burn down his home! Happy Reefing!

Random. But can you elaborate on why no to LEDs?
