Starting NP Biopellets

It's been slightly over 4 weeks and the I have already seen positive result. Though the algae is still there, pictures soon I promise!

did you take water measurement and is there significant changes?

I've actually haven't been monitoring nitrates or phosphates mainly because my original readings were so low (i'm assuming the green hair algae was consuming it..?). Sometime in the future I will purchase one of those handheld phosphate readers.. I think they're only about $40.

Great information EvMiBo. Thanks for putting videos out also. If a picture is worth a thousand word than a video has to be up in the millions. I will be putting np biopellets on my next reef. I might have to go with the a phosban as compared to my orginal idea of a BRS's GFO/Carbon reator. After seeing your video, I don't think I can get the tumbling in one of their reactos. Do you need the tumbling? What will happen if it doesn't tumble?

Thank

You really do need the tumbling, if you don't then it just doesn't work properly. I have yet to take out my sponges (i know i know) in the reactor and my tumbling has gone down- therefore my GHA is starting to fight back a little bit... I just think it's easier for the pellets to absorb the nitrates and phosphates with higher flow thats why you want the tumbling.

Camera update- My girlfriend borrowed my camera for the time being, that's why pictures still aren't up :thumbdown

It will be interesting to see what will happen when you change out your sponge. Those Screens
will allow way more water flow than a clean sponge. You might find out you have to much flow with the screens. Can't wait to see a new video of that for a comparison.

Using old PM reactor, started in bag. 1/2 inch tube off of main return pump. I am looking at Aquarium Specialty reactor.

I'll post a PIC or 2 later.

seem to work great, I have not been doing them long enough to say for sure.

I have attemped eveything over the years, pellets actually seem like a product that is going to change everything.

Buy a bag, try them out!

how high is the flow ?

Alright! I found my camera (under the passenger seat in my car) so I snapped some pictures today along with a quick video. I have to be honest and tell you that I did get a little lazy/behind on aquarium maintenance within the last month and took longer than I should have to replace the sponges on the reactor. Because of that flow was reduced dramatically and the pellets were not moving for about 2-3 weeks. But, earlier this week I replaced them with http://premiumaquatics.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PA&Product_Code=NPX-SM&Category_Code=phosreactor and flow in the reactor is back to where I want it. The only response I have seen from the tank so far is white cloudiness (which you can kind of see in the first picture). I've heard of this happening to a couple people before but can't remember if it went away naturally or what. I'll have to search through the huge thread about these pellets for an answer.

Here are some pictures: Not the best quality but you get the idea. The white cloudiness sort of made the pics come out funky. I think it's right to also let you all know that when I do a waterchange I do suck up some algae off the rocks, so not 100% of the picture's differences give credit to the bp biopellets.

white cloudiness.
