Stressed Croccea with 2 part Calcium mix

My calcium was low around 320 so I got out the 2 part calcium buffer and added about 10 ml over 2 days which was probably too much. The poor fellow immediately started to react by closing up some and not being as open with the mantle. I moved it to another tank after day 2 and did a ph check on the tank I had treated. It was 8.6 a little on the high side. Not sure he will make it. I used some ph buffer to bring it back down. Fish and everything else are fine but clam is not. Is he doomed?

I found that my algae cowrie in a different tank that I had also dosed was not doing well. Switched both the crocea and the cowrie to a vat full of live rock waiting for my 125 to be finished and they are both doing fine however the clam needs to be under the metal halide so I'm going to give the tank a few days to stabilize before I reintroduce him and maybe do a partial water change.

Gee it should be common sense to check all water parameters when something goes downhill. I checked the ph it was good. Checked alkalinity fine. Did not think to check nitrates. 30 PPM!This is in a 27 gallon hex with about 40lbs of live rock. Last time I checked it about a month or so ago it was practically nothing. My 55 is at 0 ppm. Only difference is the size of the tanks and the fact that the 55 has a dsb and a sump/fuge and tons of caulerpa growing in both the tank and fuge....but the 27 has a reverse flow ugf with crushed coral. Another case and point for a dsb, fuge. etc. A big beleiver in bigger tanks for less problems like this. I'm sure now that the clam was not happy with 30 ppm nitrate.
