Sump is very loud, need a fix

Hello guys

Well its been 3 months since the sump has been up and running and its still very loud. Tang_Montreal has practically moved in and tried to fix it like 3 times but we have yet to come up with a viable solution.

The sound is a water rushing sound... not toilet flushing/gurgling. I was told by some that a slime might build up on the ABS pipes and this will reduce the sound but it hasnt up to this point. Some have suggested doing some insolation but I havent tried this step.

If anyone has any comments or solutions we can try please feel free to suggest anything!!

Is the exit of the water lines feeding into your sump submerged below the sump water line? Do you have a filter sock over them? That seems a little too obvious to be helpful to me, but you never know :)

Is the water rushing sound comming from drain pipe, water change tank to return pipe or DSB bucket to return pipe?

Hi,

Make sure your return line that empties your tank into your sum is underwater. That will kill the noise.

Also cuts down on bubbles and foam etc in the sump itself.

dark blue and light blue, i like to put a 90 degree on them so the water is not shooting staight down which will cause noise, putting a 90 degree will eas the water into the tank... u can use some foam there or a filter sock too, but those require attention and can cause nitrate build up
