Sump tank?

OK if i got the name right I think its called a Sump.

I got an extra 10 gallon tank that I was curious if it could be used to house my filter and protien skimmer.

I wanna place it next to my 50g tank on the floor and usm some powerheads/pumps to transfer the water from the main tank to the mini tank.

How could that be done?

Im using a all glass tank with glass hoods and my lighting sits ontop the tank. The glass hoods have an opening in the back to let filter media and such sit. So i could Rig to the wall a bracket that would hold the return and suction lines. Also, what size tubing and pumps/powerheads should be user.

Does this make sense, I hope that I'm on the right idea/path, but please let me know any ideas or faults with this. Ive ran out of money for the moment but I will have more in a few days, but nothing too expensive.

I got mouths to feed. :-)

Thanks,
Edwin

2 and 9 months, I was going to put it on a stand, Heavy wood so the stand and tank dont budge. Thay are good at not touching things. I got a 29g fw and a 10g goldfish tank and they never bother them, The most they do is go up to them and stare inside at the fish.

But I always make sure its safe where the placement is of everything.

I was going to put a lid on it so it wouldnt be open. affix something to the stand and atttach some type of fastner to the lid so it does not open easily.

yeah didnt think about that.

So as too my idea's.. does it sound like i have the right one going...

Would powerheads "maxi-jet1200" be enough to get a flow rate going from one tank to the other?
