Sump

Hi everyone,

In the event of a power failure, would a 15 gal. sump have enough water-holding capacity for a 55 gal. tank so as to prevent flooding? I live on the second floor and since my landlord lives on the 1st floor, it would give me peace of mind knowing the answer to this. Thanks!

You control this by how much water is in the sump while running. Turn off the pump and watch the sump fill up. If it starts to over flow that means you have to much water in the sump/system. So you have to take some water out of the sump. If the pump starts to suck air because you took out to much water you will either need to restrict you pump, get a bigger sump or smaller pump. hopefully you can find a happy medium and mark it on the outside of the sump so you keep the salinity level consistent.

Good Luck

Thats the way its done. If you cant get a happy medium you can always place a rubbermaud type type tub under your sump.
