Sun coral won't open?

I've had my sun coral for over a year - has been doing great - new growth recently - all of a sudden, hasn't opened for about 5 days now.

Water params same as always - do they go through cycles? Seems the mouths come out for food - but feeder tentatacles remain hidden. Looks kind of like it's puckering up.

Doesn't sound like a normal cycle, at least mine has never done that. I would try to get him open with some frozen cyclopeeze soaked in either selcon or zoecon... Ive always been able to get either of mine to open with that mix. Even the 1st day i brought them home.

What do you normally feed?

Sounds like an issue I went through recently. A portion of one of my suncorals wasnt opening well, but its coming out of it.

Can you post some of your water parameters, and how often do you feed?

Sorry - away for the weekend. All good now, it seems.

My tree coral (not sure exactly what kind) had some black gunk on it - I think it had gotten stung by a mushroom (grew too close). I blew the gunk off with a baster - must have gotten into the water & made the sun coral hide.

I feed my corals "reef chili" and mysis - sometimes some goodies from the grocery store (scallops, shrimp, fish). Feed every other day, usually.

Anyway, after being away for the weekend - came out to feed last night - tentacles not quite as full as usual, but opened up pretty good. Took food. I assume it must have been put off by the stuff in the water. The tree coral is coming back, too. The "arm" that had the gunk on it is now recovering - almost back to normal color (rather than black).
