Will t-5 work with SPS. I have a 6-24 sunpower and don't want a 50 gal brown out. Seems like alot of light to me. SPS beginner

Very nice, did you change the type of bulbs to bring out colors.I am currently running:
Front
White actinic
Blue+
Blue+
GE6500
Blue+
Blue+
colors is good but blue is fadding the red colors alittle.

Yes, the problem of a lot of blue bulbs is that pink , purple and red vanish

This is why I prefer more white bulbs, you can see all the colors

Best Regards

Fiji Purple. it is an amazing bulb and brings out the colors. you can try swapping it out between the White actinic and the GE6500. you might also want to swap out one of the blue + for an aquablue special. get both and then play with bulb placement. that is the best thing about T5 is all the combination's you can do with the bulbs..

T5's work great for SPS. Here's my 6 bulb Sunpower bulb config:

Blue+
Fiji Purple
Aquablue Special
Blue+
Blue+
Aquablue Special

4 Blue+ are fine as well with a Fiji Purple and Aquablue Special. Like Denadai said, the blue's will wash out the purple's, pink's, and red's, but not with the Fiji Purple. It'll bring 'em back out. I run 4 Blue +'s and 2 Fiji Purple's; I love the blue, but the pink's, purple's and red's are very vibrant as well! :) Just play around until you find the best configuration for you.

depends on what your running, softies and some lps, but i would opt for the 6x24 for more color choices...and better lighting if you want to do sps.

with 24" front to back go with 6 bulbs much better coverage and more color options. You could keep light-demanding critters like SPS with just 4 bulbs, you would just need to make sure that they are directly below the bulbs.

I have a 4 bulb with a 30x18x15 tank. You really dont need SPS directly under the bulbs. Mine will grow anywhere!

Question that goes along with this. I have a 92g corner tank. It's 24inches tall and currently run a 400w MH. I was thinking of converting to T5 and I would be going with a 24 inch fixture. That would provide good coverage in the center leaving the corners a little. Lower light for maybe having no coral or less light intense corals. I am wanting to have predominantly sps but they would be mainly in the center of the tank under the fixture. Now on to my question. With the tank being 24" tall would a 6 bulb ati fixture provide adequate light? Would a 6 bulb sunpower be sufficent or would the PM be worth the added cost with the depth of my tank? Any opinions appreciated, thanks a lot!

yes a 6 bulb sunpower over a 24" tall tank will be more than fine. I grow sps and clams on my sandbed. my tank is 25" tall and the fixture is a few inches above the water.
for the sides where light is lower, you could do things like blasto's, rics and zoas (there are some that like to in high light, but many that don't).

Do you think a 24 inch, 6 bulb Sunpower would work on a 36x18x 21 tall tank? I have 4 inches of sand already(17 inch tall then)? On a budget, and want a mixed reef.. Even a clam or two.
