Surprise Surprise Mag is way off

Okay my tank consist of mostly SPS frags and and fish. My pars have been spot on for a few months already thanks to the litermeter(Which doses Alk and Calcium only)... My Alk is 7.7-8.2 with Lamont Cal is 425-450 Elos and Mag was 1300 ppm with Sailfert test kit. i recently had some stn from lowering my nutrients to quickly but I fixed that with some fragging, water changes and adding reefbooster. I still don't have good growth ( i run Radiums) and color could be better. I didn't understand because I dose Cal and Alk with the dosing pump so I'm pretty consistent but I never had to dose Mag just added it with my water change (Tropin Marin) and it was aways at 1275 -1300 with Sailfert. Well I decided to try Elos mag kit and after doing like 5 test my Mag is at 1000pm. Now I'm thinking the Sailfert kits have been wrong all the time and my Mg is really low causing a lack of growth and color and possible the stn problem from a few weeks ago. Can SPS corals survive in this type of enviroment and is anyone having the same problem when changing from Sailfert to Elos or other? I think I will buy a third brand and see where that measures. Man this is very frustrating. I ask myself why do I try to keep sps??? I hate hobby test kits!! Thanks for your help.

Interesting, really.

I dose 3 parts cacl, baking soda, mgcl. I use salifert and try to keep it around 1300 to 1400. I really add about as much mgcl as cacl. I would like to know if my mg is really good. I have tried the seachem mg test kit and it actually tested slightly higher than salifert. Never tried elos.

You have to be careful raising mg too quickly it will absolutely stn acros. I would try raising it in about a week period to 1300. Water changes will be a great help.
