Running a Syncra Silent 3.0 as my return pump on a mixed reef 50 gal cube.
I'm running a herbie drain. The issue I have is that over time the Syncra pump changes flow volumes. It constantly goes down and down.
I know this as I can see the volume out of the return lines, but also every few days I'm adjusting my herbie valve. Then it gets so low after ~4 weeks I have to take the pump out and fix it.
Every 3-4 weeks I take the pump out and clean it. I can't see any buildup but just the fact that I've taken it apart and put it back in - the volume goes back to original. Lately I've removed the flow restrictier on the pump's intake, (the dial you can turn turn to reduce volume.) Without that restrictor it's open more.
My sump is pretty clean as I run filter socks and change them every few days. NO fuge or anything. LIke I said the pump seems clean when I take it apart - just the changing volume is driving me crazy keeping the herbie adjusted.
Any thoughts?
