T-5 lights over a standard AGA 125

Hiya,

Quick question for you any of you experts out there. I have a standard AGA 125 with the two center braces. I'll be retrofitting 8 T-5s along with the two 72" VHO I already have.

The thing I'm wondering is should I get 8 36" inch bulbs or should I stagger it and get (4) 48" and (4) 24" so that some of the "dead spots" fall over the braces instead of the center of each 24 inch side sections?

I've heard of some people using the following configuration:

48" - 24"
24" - 48"
72"
48" - 24"
72"
24" - 48"

Let me know when you get a chance.

Thanks!

Brian

I would use 80 watt T5's (5ft). Replacing bulbs will be cheaper and will be plenty bright enough, especially if you overdrive them on an ice cap ballast. You can only put 3 T5's on an Ice Cap anyway, 4 or 5ft.

you can put 4 4' bulbs on an icecap 660,if you have an aga with middle overflows go with 6 5' bulbs on (2) icecap 660 's . or i put 8 4'on mine and just staggerd the bulbs six inches off center but i have a perfecto with corner overflow.

just cram as many as you can and forget about it.

but 5'bulbs will be cheaper to replace for only a dollar or two more apiece
