T5 bulbs over SPS

I'm looking into t5's for my 75 gal AGA tank. My question is would 4 48" 55watt bulbs be enough light for my SPS?

Light

Light

If kept high should be enough with good ATI bulbs. Throw it out there to Grim Reef in the Lighting Forum.

Best of Luck!

You'd be much better of with a 6 bulb fixture, which will fit nicely, over a 75. I had a 6 bulb Sunlight Supply, Tek5 fixture, over a 75, that was predominately SPS, for 3 years. 4 bulbs just won't really be enough.

75g too is deep for 4 bulbs I would think.

I dont think the depth makes a big difference, I think it would affect the coverage front to back. The area cover by the first 3 bulbs wont get much PAR from the 4th+ bulbs and viceversa.
I think 4 bulbs in a 75g SPS is doable but you'll get more coverage and more bulbs to recreate a better color for aesthetics.

Go with 6. I have a 72 g. My fixture has two switches. One controls 4 bulbs and one controls 2. The 2 extra bulbs make a noticeable difference.

i agree aleast 6. i have a 8 bulb over my 90

i have good growth and can grow sps on sandbed. 8 bulb mite be a little over kill. i think you should deffintly go for more than a 4 bulb IMO

I just switched from a 4 bulb tek to a 7 bulb aquatinics constellation on my 75. I was able to keep and grow SPS just fine under the tek, but like everyone has said, I would do at least 6 bulbs. The growth is unreal with the new fixture.
