I recently decided to get back into the fish scene and when I was surfing the boards to set up a lighting system for a 100 gallon I came across something ive never heard of.

t5ho????

I was plaing on using 2 250 metal halide along with 4 strip lights (2 being actinic)

I did a search and I have been reading some threads and from what I understand these can replace Metal Halide and still be as effective? My tank is going to be 24 inches deep with a 4 inch sand bed. I plan on keeping clamsand high light requiring corals, but is it actualy possible to keep stuff like this on these t5ho?

I cant find any good reading on it so if anyone has links to some useful articles or some threads that I should read feel free to post them.

Yup thet are every bit as good as MH.

24 in is quite deep. You'll be better off with the MH's for clams and sps

Do a search fo Iwan's tank, he has ALL T5HO lighting and has one of the best SPS tanks I have ever seen. You'll find that the type of reflectors you use are a vital part of a successful T5HO system, ICE CAP makes awesome reflectors for T5 bulbs.
