taking suggestions

ok, trying to follow up on some suggestions i got regarding a hair algae problem i have. i have been buying ro water from lfs

suggestions for water included checking for tds of the source water. i searched and found some hand held tds testers for around 60-70 dollars.

also checking into ro/di systems that i can buy.....

my questions are,

1. checking to see how many of you have a tds tester and what kind you use

also

for you that own your own ro/di systems, what kind do you have? just about every aquarium site has them, which ones are good? will the 150 dollar ones suffice, or, do i need to spend twice that?
