Tang Feeding

What do you feed your tangs? I'm currently feeding ocean nutrition Formula one and formula two reef flakes, SFB Freeze Dried Mysis Shrimp, ocean nutrition brine shrimp plus frozen cubed food, and Top Fin natural dried seaweed. Does this sound good? Is there a better nori or food combination for them?

should be fine, that's a good variety. What kind of tangs are you keeping?

Great, i hear they also eat lettuce, mine don't haha. I am keeping 2 regal tangs. I was hesitant at first because everyone says they are ick prone, but i'm taking chances, they have not gotten sick yet. Hope it stays that way...

What is there optimum diet? Move greens?

My clan gets 6 sheets of nori 3-4 days/week, ocean nutrition flakes, pellets, crab roe, frozen squid, shrimp. They eat 'bout anything I feed. Variety is probably the key to long term success.

Any particular kind of NORI? I see there is purple and stuff?

Is there a difference between flakes and pellets? Are they different enough to feed both and have a benefit? Or is it just another food.

I try to get them to eat meat but they do not other than the cubed mysis. I try to feed shrimp and silversides, Krill (I also have an eel & trigger with them) but they ignore it.

I forget the brand of Nori(green). I bought it off ebay- 500 sheets for I think $20. They inhale it. I have a blue ribbon and zebra moray in my tank as well and used to feed live gulf shrimp. My tangs would tear them up. Don't anymore due to the messiness.

Oh ok, what tangs do you keep?

I've heard some contain salts, and they are not pure nori
I guess it could be possible, however I got this advice from another reefkeeper about 7 yrs. ago (he'd been using for a few years already)... the brand I have used is without that problem... my tangs/angels are fat and healthy!
this video is 1 yr. old...they are bigger, now!
