Tank Manufacturers (acrylic or glass) Based around LA?

Are there tank manufacturers located around the LA area anyone can recommend?

Looking for a place I can pick up a tank, stand and canopy from so I don't have to pay huge costs on shipping.

I'm thinking of a fairly large tank 72"x18"x24"-30" (around 135; gonna be FOWLR )and could go glass or acrylic.

If anyone could recommend a reliable place with good pricing I'd appreciate it (doesnt have to be right in LA, just driving distance)

Thanks!

almost any fish store can order you an AGA or Oceanic glass tank for a good price

SoCalCreations is local and can make a complete(acrylic) set up...

yup its a brand it stands for all glass aquarium...

if you are looking for a nice price try.
passion of the sea 626-839-5119
or
oceanpro 800-722-0421

all retailers get the tanks at the same price.. it just depends how much profit they want to make on the tank...

but thats glass..

if you want acrylic call Steve at socal.. tell him gabriel says hello...:D

Ya I'd like to order direct from the manufacturer so I don't have a middleman...might try Steve at socal and will say hey from you Gabriel if I do ;)

Last tank I ordered was from Tenecor (great tank...but pricey), but looking for something less expensive this time around...

I saw a tank today which had a cool design; It was like a bowfront with just the 1st 3rd of the tank curved and towards the middle it flattens out to a normal rectangle front. (Sort of like if you were looking down on a grand piano cut in half) It was like a wave shaped front.....I assume all shaped tanks have to be acrylic?

Does socalcrations do that type of stuff ?

they didnt when i had my sump built there.. dont know now a days... ill pm him this thread so he can answer...

Any other recommendations?

Lee-Mar is excellent. My glass 270 and 150 are both eurobraced, flat polish, diamond-edged, black siliconed, Lee-Mar tanks. You can see pictures of them in my gallery.

Many fish stores are authorized dealers/distributors (at least in my neck of the woods, San Fernando Valley/Ventura County).

I have never seen anyone give negative feedback about Lee-Mar.

I hope Scott doesn't see this:lol:

Without a doubt Lee Mar makes the nicest glass tanks. I don't think I'd buy anything other then Lee Mar...The old saying does hold true here..."you get what you pay for" Lee Mar is real proud of their tanks, the price tag shows it.

Advance Aqua Tanks is also local to LA, they are the makers of the popular visio (glass) and clear for life (acrylic) brands. I have several Visio 10 gal tanks and a 29 gal clear for life.

Which Scott?

Without a doubt, Lee Mar tanks are worth every penny, and if you can find a deal on a used one, even better :D

Oh gosh...am I going to be the subject of someone's wrath shortly for saying what I did???

So SORRY! Pleeeease forgive me!

LeeMar are nice tanks I must say. But when they split a seam and 180 gallons of water covers your livingroom floor, kitchen, bathroom, hallway and bedrooms, watch how fast they sidestep, backstep and plain run away. But hey, they did fix the seam at no expense a month later and for the 10K damage and dead sps/fish, thats my problem. Go figure.

Sorry...just hit a sore spot for me

Wow. Sincerely, my condolences. I am terribly sorry to hear that.

Ken, I thought Scott B had a terrible time with Lee Mar? now that Tony has posted I recall the fun he had. You had to remodel your whole house after your tank exploded didn't ya Tony

FWIW, I had a good time dealing with Tom at LM. Even tho they don't want to deal with the reg Joe I called him a few times and he was very helpfull.

I don't think it was Lee Mar themselves, but the shipping. The first tank came in chipped, the second tank came in with the bottom busted, the third tank he had for about two years, and now it's sitting at my house!

Lee Mar was very good at replacing the tank each time it showed up busted, and I think the last tank was delivered by themselves.

It's still one of the prettiest tanks I have seen. Total craftsmanship.

My tank is kind of a waste...I spent all that money on it and all you can see is the front panel.. I should have just bought one sheet of Starphire, sealed up everything and filled the room with water:lol:
