techniques to pairing true perculas ?

I have had about a 1.5in ocelarus (sp?) in my tank for over a year, and I recently bought about a .5in ocellarus (sp?) to try and pair them. I was told to get the smallest I could so that it would be able to change sexes easier. Are there any signs that they are or aren't going to pair up? And is there anyway I can help them calm down or anything to help ?
