Terry's 180 Peninsula Reef build.

Nice!

Need a basement tour.

Gary, after 13 years on this thread, I have no idea how to subscribe to a thread. Get out the slip cover.

Honestly, I haven't done much with the system in months. I ran the skimmer airline outside and swapped out of the kalk container. But aside from that, I have just kept up with maintenance and fed the fishies.

Really just enjoying the tanks right now.

I bought the 420 gallon tank ARC was selling. It's going in-wall in the basement.

The varsity football team is coming today to help get it off my truck. I'd upload pics, but that has become difficult.

Now just to get it into the basement...

It's currently sitting on the driveway full of water. The stand it was on was pretty rusty, and I just want to ensure there are no leaks before hauling this monster into the basement.

So far, no issues.

Stand is built. I used 2x6s, and basically followed the King of DIYs plans.

I made the stand 12" wider, so I'll have a walkway on the backside for getting into the tank.

I can lift the stand... Tank, not so much. One coat of Killz primer on it already.

Wha????

In for this!
Stand is done. One more coat of Primer, and some clear coat on the top.

Tank had been full of water on the driveway for 24 hours. With as rusty as the steel stand was, I'm worried about leaking... Thinking I should reseal the seams. I've never done this before.

Why does a rusty stand make you worry about the seams? If the tank is passing it's leak test and the seams visually look like they are in decent shape, I wouldn't touch them.

Maybe the prior home of that tank wasn't ventilated properly?

I have resealed a number of tanks up to 90gal, but I never removed the silicone between the end panels. I just removed all I could with a razor blade from the inside of the tank and resiliconed. I'm not sure I would trust that on that big of a tank. Probably the only way to do it properly would be to disassemble it completely and rebuild it...not the undertaking I would want to embark on!
