Testing new setup

I'm setting up my 120 gallon and I wanted to hear from people on what they did to test everything before putting salt water in the tank.

Right now I'm filling up a few 44 gallon garbage cans with ro/di water so I can be ready to put water in the tank this week.

I don't want to waste 120 + gallons of ro/di water just for testing. What did you do?

Can I test with tap water?

You certainly can test with tap water. Just drain it well before adding your rock and salt water. Don't have any filters or anything either.

I didn't test squat before I filled mine. No leaks so I was releived. I had a RR tank so I wasn't too worried about it.

Mine is reef ready as well. Maybe I shouldn't worry about it then.
