Large polyp Austrailian red and blue Acanthastrea coral with 26 heads. Thats $17.27 per polyp!
Size: 4-1/4"

This also $499 dollars for 1 coral.

This was at well know website for great corals, and this coral was nice.

This just seems crazy to me.

I have paid between $100 and $170 for sps frags and or colonies. I would also pay 200 but anything more than that and I have a hard time.

How long will the prices stay this high? Those of you who been around for times like these before what do you think?

I also love duncans and want to get some but have not bought one yet.

They seem to grow faster than acans. Is this correct?

I have two acans and like them but they do not appear to grow as fast as i would like. I feed mine once a week.

I guess i like to watch things grow and this is why i lean towards sps, i used to be all lps by the way.

Just my little rant not meant to offend anyone.

that isn't a bad price for an Australian acan lord. I have seen much worse and if it comes with a guarantee even better as some places have limited guarantee if any at all.

i get it

i get it

I not saying its a bad price for the market right now, but it is a lot of money.

I have bought several corals from the seller and I will again heck probably next week.

This is more of a rant b/c I do not want to have to pay that much for one coral.

If it was $200 I would buy it now. For $499 I believe I could buy a 120gal tank.

I could buy some average one's (like I already have) but I prefer to wait and get the beautiful one's.

The title just triggered something in me. Thats $17.27 per polyp.

What's your guess on how long these prices will last.

Considering they are coming from Australia I do not see these prices dropping much at all as the wholesalers are paying higher prices to get these corals. Even if they flood the market with them they are much prettier imo than the same corals in the indo variety. The colors seem more vibrant some are just unrealistic well worth the prices we are paying for them. I am happy to see the prices of these corals where they are considering I have seen some very similar corals selling on other websites for much higher.

Wholesale prices on Aussie acans are actually suprisingly cheap compared to what the retail markup has been on many sites.

from what I have heard from some people who opted not to get them was the whole sale prices where much higher than that of the indo acan lords.

No doubt they are higher than Indo lords. Aussie lords look better than the Indos and Australia is not a third world country.

Honestly a lot of the australian stuff is being trans shipped to most places shipping means the coral cost less but hthe box charges shipping cities charges everything goes up. Also the death rate of a lot of the stuff coming in from Australia is very high, compared to your normal stuff from Indonesia etc. so along with no DOA policies and the price of coral and shipping the prices arent THAT bad and can definately get worse. I personally am still paying $100+a polyp for some of my Japanese morphs/strains of my acans and micros.
