The City Center Casino!!!

City Center once was the crown jewel of Columbus, a shopping haven for thousands. Two decades later, though, City Center is a ghost town. :(
The city took over the mall more than one year ago and has yet to come up with a plan to revamp the 152,000-square feet of vacant shopping space.
Now picture this... the street level of the casino would be filled with the slot machines, hundreds of machines from penny slots to the big ones. The second level would be filled with roulette and Black Jack tables. On the 3rd flooor you would have the high rollers, the whalers, betting large sums.
Apparently I'm not the only one who has been kicking this around....

One of my biggest issues with Issue 6 was it limited the state to one casino. A casino in City Center would be awesome. Especially if they could start bringing in other entertainment and such.

Yeah the city has GOT to get it’s arse in gear and make some progress on its plans for the City Center!
If it's still sitting empty when the November 2009 ballot comes around, it might be hard for people to say no to some kind of action on the site... even a casino :strange:

Heck it might even give people a reason to go downtown on a weekend day. Then maybe some other places downtown could stay open longer.

Winner winner chicken dinner!!!!

Even though I voted no on Issue 6, I like the idea of multiple casinos so the city's they are in can benefit from them too.

Sounds like a great idea. Only downfall I see would be incoming students falling prey to the art of gambling...

I voted against issue 6. I like the gambling aspect and support it. I just want to see them get some legislations and laws written and put into place to protect the state and or cities they are gambling in. So that the maximum amount of money is going to where it should. A lot of money could be brought into the Buckeye state with it.

That issue was poorly written....

And the scuttlebutt was that Berman wasn't going to build the casino. He was only after the rights to build it and then sell those rights off for as much as $10M to some other entity that would build.

Eh, they already have online poker for that...
I think it would be a great idea that could greatly benefit the state, there are an awful lot of dollars crossing state lines to wheeling, windsor, and the riverboats

IMO, I think Ohio has really missed the boat on casino's. We are surrounded by 4 states (PA, WV, MI and IN) that have embraced the concept. At this point, a casino would be good to keep Ohio money in the state that is currently going elsewhere. Unfortunately, I don't see it bringing in much out-of-state money anymore.
