mount looks nice but suction cups always fail sooner or later ... i wouldn't risk it

that why God made silicone, to hold suction cups, not for D cups.

Frunkster

do you think the reason your prop does not come out has anything to do with your current/voltage over thier? but you said your other pumps props do come out right. got to rule out that 3 blade prop.

The other thing might be that we need to be putting a bigger diameter prop on the 802 and 402 to give it the ability to pull out against the stronger magnetic field.

could it be the magnet on that impeller is week? you said you tried 3 pumps motors, how many impellers/magnets did you try?

'Doh' Lol Frunkster. I said before that the aquaclear impellers simply snapped apart w/o breaking anything...lol.

I am tinkering on the small AC pump today (Hi-Spec1000, 10, whatever you want to call it). I am noticing that before I said it was about 400gph, maybe a little above...but now...

My SEIO 620 has such a wider nozzle that the output velocity is very slow. The AC (with a nikko 3-blade prop from tower) starts out with a smaller output, but its flow is in a cone, not a beam like the SEIO. Its wider, much wider, and its velocity is much greater so that unlike the SEIO, its flow can actually reach the other end of a 36" long tank w/o a problem...not so with th SEIO.

I like it much better, FWIW, and I also tried restarting it 20x to see how it did on direction. It started every time in the same direction on its own...the right direction! When it started in the wrong direction, it pushed itself out of the pump about 3/4"...enough to stop spinning and reset itself spinning in the right direction. It never pushed itself out far enough to fall out, but just enough to change direction.

This pump seems to just need a shroud and thats it. I would say it makes more flow than a SEIO 620...thats for sure. Not bad for a 4.5 watt pump (and with the prop mod its prolly like 3 watts).

I have an AC 30 on the way, hoping it to behave the same way as your AC 10. Before I ordered it, I measured it in Petsmart, the 1.5" OD black drain tailpipe (with flange) fitted on the pump just fine, now my Octura props are here, the 1435 (1.38") seems to fit right in the 1.5" OD drain pipe as well, so if the stopper is not needed, then the mod will be really easy.

"hahnmeister - so you are saying that the small model AQ & the 901 both turn in the same direction constantly but the 802 does not, is that correct? b4 I destroy something else"

-Frunkster

Sorry, I simply dont know about the 802...havent gotten my hends on one yet.

I have been following this thread for awhile now. I want to make a DIY tunze wave box. I was thinking 2 modded MJ1200 with the cheavet light control box. I worry about the starting and stopping, noise and enough flow. Any help making this dream come true would be great.

i think you would be better off converting 4 of the 1200's and putting them on a waye maker than to make a wave box. the wave box only sits on one side of the tank. there for the other side wont get as much flow to it. all the detrus will settle out on that side of the tank. JMO spazz

Has anyone successfully moded the 402??? Spazz and I started working on one last night and I had to bail long before it was done. I talked to him later last night and he indicated it seems to never want to spin forward. Anyonw have any suggestions? We used one of the Dumas props that is about 1.5" maybe slightly less.

I did the 402. That is the same problem I am having. It starts backwards 4 out of 5 times. I am using the great planes 1.5 inch prop. Once it spins in the right direction, watch out! The flow is tremendous for a small 12 watt powerhead. I think I am going to order a couple of RH props to see if that will do the trick. That would beat replugging it 10 times to get the right direction.

my 802 spins 4 out 5 times backwards as well.. but getting it to spin sucks... ya i tried all different magnets and pumps.. maybe the y are all worn out.. i have some 302's or 30 or whatever really little.. dotn know if they will do much.. if i can get three 802s working well..and bigger props. i might sell my CL and ocean motion unit and just use the three 802's and my 4 eductors...

I've got extra cf rod, rigid tubing, flex tubing, and 1435 octura props. If anyone doesn't want to buy large amounts, I could mail smaller pieces in an envelope. Like 6 inches of cf rod, 4 inches of rigid tubing, inch of flexible tubing. PM me if interested.

Will it work to just reverse the direction of the LH props?
??? if you mean to turn it upside down. the answer is no, it will still be a LH prop.

are you going to get a bigger RH prop? like a 2.3" at least a 1.75" it will probably work better and maybe self correct the reverse dierction also.
