The photo below doesn't really do justice but there is A LOT of turbulence and flow coming out of this

dh, could you post a close up pic of the coupling between the maxi magnet and the air line tube. i am having trouble getting a stopper to work on my seio.

oh do you know if the maxi spins faster than the seio

Tim

Tim-

That "coupling" is just a 3/4 inch piece of flexible airline tubing
As far as the RPMs between the SEIO vs. Maxijet, I would have no idea to be honest.

Any photo(s) of your stopper.

OK so there are so many different combinations of props here that people have used . dhnguyen, currently what prop are you suggesting that we use and how many ? sounds like a single 1 3/4" is it. if so , do i want the 3/16 or 1/8 ? and i want to order the "0.098" OD carbon fiber rod

looking for one or even two 1.25 nitro props. Broke one trying to bore it out and yes I'm too cheep to order a new one from towerhobbies

I have a few brand new unused 1.75 dumas props I can trade for.

p.s. dhnguyen you have to have an extra one. also how did you get your mj900 to push the dumas 1.75? you trim it down or something?

thanks,
brent

for those that are modding a seio, you have to get .125CF rod.

dh, i dont ahve any pics of my stopper because i ahvent made one, the air line tubing is attatched directly to the magnet part so it cant slide up the CF rod to hit a stopper, that what i am wanting a pic of is how you cut the air line to mate to the magnet part. do you cut like a little drive dog on each piece , similar to a love joy coupling

Hi Brent,

Actually I am out of propellers  And would you believe it, Towerhobbies also ran out of Nitros too at least until later this month.

I didn't need to do anything trimming or otherwise to get the MJ900 to push a 1.75 Dumas. These MJ900's are new though.

I picked up the green grating from lowes. It was like 3.50. The 1.75" dumas prop fits in it nicely. I really like the flow coming out. Real turbulent and diffused. It tends to veer off to the right for me though. You probably could put in a straightener and fix that, but I just moved the pump a little to the left. Also I glued on the small piece that fits in the slot of the maxijet to the top of the maxijet. The hanging bracket slides right in. It has been running since yesterday afternoon.

Tim-

It's not the rigid tubing that is supposed to slide up but the entire magnet also. When spinning the wrong way, the propeller will pull the magnet out of the pump's body slightly and hit the stopper, stop spinning, and reverse itself as the magnet gets sucked back into the body. This all happens very quickly at startup.

I did cut a drive dog into the Maxijet and the rigid tube at first but found that it wasn't really necessary to do it. Check back to the very first page of the original thread for a photo of how the tube is attached to the magnet now.

Here are some pics of what I did.

The white tube on the impeller shaft is cut from a bic pen and is over airline tubing. I needed to stop the shroud from turning when the stop was hit so I glued in a couple of tab stops in the channel the maxijet uses. I noticed that for me anyway it was important to make sure that the prop and the prop stop did not align when the maxijet was off. If they were aligned the prop just about always got stuck and did not reverse.

I made my shroud using this

I believe it is a 1/8" High Speed Cutter. It came with the Craftsman Rotory Tool that I got years ago. Their part number may be 53070 but I am not sure.

Just googled ithe part number and that is it.....Oh and thanks this thread really helped with the whole project.

Ok what the best way of removing the impeller from the magnet????

Just got my kits form Lutz today took 2 weeks, that was pretty good considering. As soon as I got my kits, I found a few of these in my garage, isn't that the way it goes. It is called "The Bird Guardian" to keep birds out of bird houses. It is just about perfect. The ID is 1.53" and the adjustable screw in & out part is 1.87". It even has a flange.

It .the ID is .20 bigger than a perfect fit I think it will be ok once I notch out the flange. I guess im going to have to make some after all.

the manuftures phone number is 414-275-9655 if they still make them.
