hello everyone.
Im doing a little personal research on male flame wrasses.
After researching a bit on RC and other people i've noticed a continuing trend on how male flames do not last longer then a couple months.
Symptons:
is doing great for a long time, eating everything. then one day is breathing heavy not eating, the next he is dead.
I have had mine now for almost 7 months now and hes going strong.
among my research i stumbled across a parasite that hosts only in flame wrasse of hawaii (i know flame wrasse are only found in hawaii )
But for some reason they only effect the male in a negative way (these symptoms do not apply to the female) Treatment with PraziPro is suppose to cure the male from this parasite, but i have yet to find anyone with personal experience using it.
Another theory is the use of a needle. Most flame wrasses are needled one way or another. They are found (usually) at 100 feet or below and would take a long time to decompress naturally. however, this doesn't explain why some make it and some dont...
SO, I would like to hear from personal experiences on how long you have had a male flame, if you have ever owned a male flame, how long did you own it, and how did it die if it did.
I hope we can all learn a little something about this, because its frustrating me to no end
aloha
