thinking of trying prodibio biodigest any experiences

have you guys tried the use of a carbon sorce to increase the bacteria existing in the tank? Imo thats all those products are doing. Feeding your bacteria.

You could do the same with sugar, vinigar in limewater, and vodka. They all increase bacteria. But, you need a strict regimine starting small. This way to be sure that oxygen is not depleted due to increased bacterial activity.

Also, I would worry about this "Each ampoule is packed under nitrogen providing excellent product stability, retaining a strong concentration as it is sheltered from oxygen in the air"

Nitrogen?

Thanks for the link. I do not know if adding such bacteria has merit or not with respect to nitrification or denitrification.

DST: what do you hope it will accomplish?

Well this what I wanted to accomplish.

I have been using prodibio for 3 months now. I have not changed anyother routines, schedules or quanities durning this time.

My corals are clearly more colorful. Also, my corals are growing faster. Skimmer production is down and it is hard to maintain cheato in the fug now.

I don't know if the bacteria is being consumed by the corals but I think that the bacteria is consuming PO and Nitrates as I can't get a reading of either.

It might be interesting to stop for a while and see what happens. :)

How is the coralline growth in the tank? One of the side effects of starving the tank of nutrients seems to sometimes be reduced coralline growth.

I want to see how it works for six months then stop for a few before I really decide it is working.

Yes, my coraline growth has slowed down.

My biggest concern is how the PO is being tied up in the system. If I stop will it be released?

A reef tank that is as close to natural as possible . I really like Iwans tank its very interesting to me that he can look at his tank and know what it needs . To bad the world can't do this . The worlds Reefs are in some real trouble right now and who knows someday the world may realize that the Reefs of the world mean more that just something that looks cool .

The reef tanks of the world may someday be the last reefs anywhere and if this happens I for one would like to see as many nature ( or as close to it ) reef tanks as possible so if the oceans need to be seeded we have some seeds to work with .

I doubt it would be released, assuming that you are not somehow building up huge bacterial mats or something, but it may perhaps no longer be sequestered so may rise.

That is certainly a worthy goal. :)
