Is that bubble algae or is that the one type of macro that has all the little flat round discs? I had some of that when I first got my rock along with all the razor or seratta (sp?) caulerpa but tangs seem to eat it first.
A little off topic, has anyone actually seen or noticed that their emerald crabs eat bubble algae? I've got 2 red ones and a green one and it's not receeding much.
I have an emerald in each of my two frag tanks. One or two in each display tank. My main display is almost bubble free, except one spot that I keep removing it from it makes 2 bubbles. My son's lion tank has a bunch of the dark red kind and the two in there aren't denting it. One of my frag tanks is almost bubble free and the other emerald in the other frag tank doesn't seem to touch it. So I guess the whole point is that some will eat it and others won't.
Most of the time you can get them to dislodge w/o popping the bubble. I use some blunt plastic tweezers and just take one end and get under them. My foxface does pick and eat at them too. But he may be keeping some free floating spores hanging around to keep a small amount going. I'm really only unhappy with the one frag tank and my son's tank. I may just get some reeferrocks or something and change his tank out since I need a bunch more rock still anyway.
