time to re-work flow, need help

I have a 120g.(4'x2'x2') that is LPS & SPS. For flow currently i am using a mag 9.5 for my return(~800gph), and 2-Seio 1100's(2200gph).
I am unable to run a c.l. on this current set-up(not up to me:()....
so i need to amp up another way.
***But with the sump return on locline to a "Y" from the top back middle and the seio's on opposite back corners slightly slanted up towards the opposite front corners, my LPS cannot be kept in certain areas already?? I know i need more flow for the SPS though?
I have a canopy that is only three sided(open back & top), so i need to only ude the back wall.

Thanks so much for any help!

Perhaps one in the center of the back wall pointing to the front glass, and place the two on the sides pointing towards the middle which will be where all 3 converge.

Thoughts? because Im still tweaking my flow in my 120

i have a ssb(.75") and it already blows out a half circle 18" long and at middle it reaches about 6" back........i'm worried i will have no sand in front.....BUT i need the flow!!

what would you think of bumping the 1100's to 1500's and get a 820/1100/1500 for the back top middle? I think i would still have slow flow(not dead spot) in back bottom corners....how could i take care of that, or don't i need to worry about that?

thanks man

Well, in my BB I have 2 SEIO 820's in the back bottom corners blowing water under the reef. I have no detritus behind or under my rocks except one spot where it aacumulates for pretty easy siphoning.

Have you considered the 2600? That may blow too much sand around. I am a firm believer that blowing flow toward the surface helps to pull detritus to the top for easy skimming.

BTW.... I went to Kutztown University....grew-up in Bucks County!

sindjin....family in newtown and fairless hills(lots of friends went to KU-what years did you go there?)
how did you mount your seio's on the bottom?

pioneer.....i was thinking about that, but i am not sure the extra flow going in same pattern i have will be the right way?

I grew up in Warminster... right behind McDonald Elementary off of Street Rd. I went to KU from 88-92. Biology Major

I used the suction cup holder on the sides of the tank and have them angled to blow under the reef. I wish I had bought 1500's for that though...would have had better flow.

Hmmmm...Im really thinking about adding the 2600's or 1500's in the back uppper corners blowing to the front to converge with the flow from my one Tunze.

The cups have worked for 3 months now. Im impressed.
What do you mean by modded Tunze style? The magnet holder?

I like that, too. That will actually serve my purpose well. Hmmm..1500's or 2600's?

Have you seen the magnet cleaner mod where you can mount it and move it around if you need to?

no mod really...just glue the body to the backside o fthe inside part of the magnet.

i'm still running in circles on ideas to change my flow without adding these big a?? seio's

Well...without being able to run a closed loop.... you have no choice really. I hate seeing hardware in the tank but ...

I was actually thinking of redoing my CL. I have an Iwaki that pumps only 1200gph. I was thinking of replacing it with a DART to get 2800gph. But that would be a huge expense to just add 1600gph. So I guess its a trade off to add the SEIOS....cheaper, more flow and less energy consumption.

do you mean up top where my 1100's are now and move the 1100's down on mag floats towards bottom?
-OR-
do you mean leave 1100's where they are and put 1500's on mag floats towards bottom?

the 2600's create awsome amounts of flow
but they are pretty big..about the same size as the tunze you get used to it though

If you glue the Seio bracket to the magnet, instead of the body itself, you can swivel it to point any direction you want.

The magnet also lets you put the Seio much lower in the tank than you can with the bracket.
