Tiny flat mulisks cover sand?

I have a couple maintenance tanks I care for with these things in them. The are almost like tiny abolone. They seem to blanket the sand. They are a khaki brown color. The have a flat, rounded shell and you can see what appears to be a gastropod foot on the under side.

They are quite the nusence and I'd love to figure out a way to get rid of them.
