To Clam or not?

I want to try some clams, but don't know if my tank will support them. I have a 175W MH and 2 X 96W PC's. The lights are about 20" from the top of my DSB. Will any type of clam work in this situation? What if I placed the clams about halfway up in the tank? Help would be appreciated.

At twenty inches away from the sandbed, that illumination is rather dim for a clam. The lower light clams are squasmosas and derasas but they appear to prefer the sand and so aren't the best choices for rock placement. I'd pass on it until you can upgrade your lighting.

One of my clam holding tank is 17" deep and I have eggcrate to place them on which is about mid way and have 2 x 175 MH and they do fine. Have some T. Squamosa's on the sand and they are fine.

I have 3 different tank set-ups.
