Full tank shot? I say 'No' on fragging it... Just like I say no to fragging ANY coral. I mean, what's the point of having a coral if you're not gonna let it blossom, if you know what I mean. You could always make it the centerpiece of the tank.

I would also say wait 3 more weeks, I will have my tank ready by then and then you can frag it. So I can buy a frag from you

It definitely needs fragging. For a 90 gallon home, it's almost past the point of being a centerpiece. Any bigger and it'll detract from the rest of the things you have in there. I would frag it and swap for even more variety. Maybe add some more really nice zooanthids or maybe some ricordia. You'll also need some room for a little pulsing Xenia frag I have growing for you.

Let it grow. This hobby's gone down to folks thinking frags are colonies nowadays. You have a nice piece and it takes a long time and patience to get something like that. I say leave it be and be happy with it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I love this leather and am definitely very happy with it. It has been through alot. A couple years ago, it was nearly eaten to death by a Koran Angel once she developed a taste for it, but after rehoming the angel, it recovered and took off. My only concern is that it will outgrow the space. It is currently shadowing some zoas, and because of its weight, placement has been a challenge. I keep waiting for signs of natural propagation but it hasn't happened yet. I wish it reproduced like 'shrooms! Maybe the only option is a tank upgrade ;)

Relocated the leather

Relocated the leather

Reaquascaped this weekend for the sole purpose of relocating the leather. It was unknowingly attached to a neighboring rock so it has a couple blemishes but they already appear to be healing. Fingers crossed that the pieces left behind grow into mini versions of itself. The tank has a much better feel to it and the leather no longer looks awkward.

Beautiful tank! I love how it's not loaded with actinics like most tanks are these days.
I got a new leather the other day. It was another leather's baby I think. It's the size of a dime, and I can't wait for it to get some size on it. It's already growing o.0

Thanks! I am so happy with the rearrangement. It's like new again and I keep catching myself staring at it.
Congrats on your new leather. "Size of a dime" with tiny polyps to match? Cute! I'm such a sucker for baby versions of salty pets.

Actually, the polyps are really long compared to the size of the rest of the coral.. That's what caught my attention. My mantis just ran over it, and it's all closed up now... but I can get a picture of it when it opens if you'd like :)

Would love to see a pic of it!

I just fragged mine - the head was at least as large as a dinner plate and was starting to shade a bunch of stuff around it. This was 3 weeks ago and it's recovered pretty quickly and already started growing again, plus now I have new shrooms started that I have managed to trade off.

85galsalty, Every time I try to get a close up of the little toadstool, my mantis runs over it. I don't really like posting tank pics, but this is all I got: ( to the left of the mantis. it's grown a LOT )

*sniff* it'll be big and strong some day!

Cute! Compare this pic to its size in a year. I'm sure it'll be a dramatic difference.
