A few months back i build my own LED kit for my 75. I never added the lenses to the leds. I see what i think is good growth and happiness with the corals.

Questions are....

Should i add the lenses?

Am i losing light because i'm not directing it?

When the LED's are on and the room lights are off, do you see any spill over around the stand or on the wall. If you are, then lenses could help direct more light into the tank.

I have 48 LED's spaced equally throughout the 40 breeder tank. The lights are about 12" off the surface. I probably did not need lenses with the shallow tank, but I did opt for 80 degree lenses. I can honestly say with the reflectivity of the inside of the glass, I get NO SPILLOVER light from the aquarium using this setup. Yes, the aquarium will glow and shed some light, but there is no direct light comining out of the aquarium.

I just put them all on and didn't like it at all.

it became spotty and created to many shaded areas.

Might just be my Setup but its much nicer without.

The lights are in a 4 sided canopy with no top
