Toadfish toxicity

Hi all, has anyone ever encountered toxicity in any species of toadfish? I have found one reference in Scott Michael's book on the Two faced Toadfish, but Scott says he has never heard of any other toadfish producing toxic mucous.

I have a Whitespotted Toad that just wiped out a tankful of fish and really soaped up the water.

By toadfish do you mean soapfish? I can't really tell what you're referring to.

Sorry, toadfish as in Oyster Toadfish (Opsanus tau), Gulf Toadfish, Splendid Toadfish (Sanopus splendins) etc....Whitespotted Toadfish is the species I have (Sanopus astrifer).

I don't know about toxic mucus, but Opsanus tau is venomous. In fact, all species in the subfamily Thalassophryninae are venomous, as well.

The only issue that I have encountered with my Toadfish is him trying to eat everything new that I add to the tank.

Never had the problem that you have...
