Toadstool polyps not fully extended and pale

So I got this toadstool 3 weeks ago. It was not extending at all for most of the time until now. 2 days ago, it opened up and remains that way all day but the extensions are small about 2-3mm max and they do not have the trademark green color. It is in medium flow and directly under my Kessil light.

What I would like to know, based on the pic attached,

1) Is this the max its polyps extend?
2) Is the distance between the frogspawn (about 2") and the leather enough?

too close to the light, move it to the bottom and slowly bring it back up to where you want it to stay. I'd say it doesn't need that much light to do well once established...

The actual distance from the LEDs and the coral is about 15-20". Is that too less?

Before you move the coral, you might want to try increasing the water movement around the coral. Sometimes this will help them to perk up. Also, they don't like it when you fiddle with them too much either.

I improved the flow a bit. The polyps have extended further however I have 2 issues as of now.

1. The coral is flat. It does not take the typical "curved" posture. Unless the light are off and then the polyps go in then it takes that curvature. But during the day it is flat.
2. The polyps are still white/transparent. Although they are much longer.

Is this a gradual process?

I think so. I would definitely give the coral more time in it's current position before you do anything drastic. This is all under the assumption your parameters are within reason and the lighting is sufficient though. Stability is key. GL.

I don't have fish for about 2 weeks now. Running an overrated skimmer. Ammonia/Ni/Na should be fine. What else do I need to check. I am feeding Cyclop-eeze once a week (small qty).

Lighting is Kessil A350W.

i was in the same situation about a month ago. if you have leds like me move closer to the light, the other thing is if anything is touching the polyps it doesn't like it

It's still the same color. I tried playing with LEDs, closer, brighter, dimmer, mixed with blue no effect at all. The color is still pale. The polyps have extend a bit more but the shape is still flat and color pale.
