i have a 50 gal with 2 250w mh hqi. my birdsnest and bali green slimer(only sps in the tank) were looking great when i got them but now just look dull brown. they have pretty good polyp extension and seem to be growing. am i on the right track. thanks for the help:spin3:

More likely a nutrient issue if it's browning. Usually SPS bleaches from too much light rather than browning. Check your nitrate and phosphate levels.

Having the same issue with a monti right now. However, I suspect more a MH light replacement than nutrient to me. Have you got some changes, replacements, etc lately?

these are my first 2 sps corals(kenya tree and other lps are ok)but still dont have the nice color from when i got them. they just seemed to lose their color slowly. i am thinking of trying a 20k bulb. i hear some people get awesome color from them but dont want to spend $50 a bulb if theirs something else i could spend my $ on to get the problem fixed

btw thanks for the help everyone:beer:

I don't think a 20K will solve the problem. Just showing false bluer colors. You should continue searching the real trouble. Their are a lot of thread on the same topic here. Good luck.

is it possible i need to dose amino acids. maybe there isnt enough nutrients in the water. the only algae i have right now is diatoms.
