too nice of a hermit

My scarlet hermit crab gave up his shell to another crab that molted and now doesnt have one, all my other shells are too small for him. How long will he live without a shell? He rejected the biggest one I had...hopped in right away but hopped right out when a Nassarius snail came cruising up....he was the only one we named

Time to get some more shells. How long he lasts depends on what else is living in your tank.

Well he took to the shell I gave him in the first place...crawled in again and has been using it since...might have been a lil big for him, he walks a little funny with it now. I will be getting some larger shells for them...specially since the other ones will moew than likely need bigger ones soon.

Question though...I thougt they werent supposed to get to large...at least the Scarlett Hermit Crabs.

It'll take a day or so to get used to the heavier shell, then it'll get strong enough to handle it. They don't get what I'd call large, but I had a thin-stripe that got fist-sized, so I'm a bit biased LOL.
