Torch coral fried?

I bought a torch coral yesterday withfive heads and after putting it in tank it opened shortly after and looked great for around three hours. I left home and returned three hours after that it was pretty much closed up. I figured it was not a big deal because the pet store lights go out at 8:00 and this was @ 9:30 so I just thought it was ready for bed. Today it looks worse and appears to be coming apart. Is this most likeley due to too much light it? It was in a shallow power compact tank at fis store. I didnt think my cheap (odyssea) lighting would put off enough light to burn this coral. My water test calcium=400, ph=8.0 nitrates=20. Is there anything I can do to help this guy FAST.

What is your tank temp? I know they start to have probems expanding then puking their guts out at around 86F

mmm tough to say, I have never had my hammer and frogspawn react to a higher temp that way. I know if you see even the smallest amount of tissue still in the skeleton it can recover!

Try and keep your parameters in check a little better, and you can avoid this problem altogether.

Cheers

I have had a frogspawn in tank for two weeks with no problems. what perameters do you think are most detramental?
