Totally burned out in this hobby...

I have concluded that I am totally exhausted of this hobby. I recently sold off my huge tank and sold off alot of my livestock (but still have alot of it). I moved it all to my remaining 150g that is built into the wall. I built a 75g sump and it has been running for 2 months. I have been so focused on my work, my children and wife and my powerlifting training that I hardly have time to even feed the fish or change filters. Heck, the glass on my tank has never looked worse because of algae buildup. My company was recently bought by Alpha Natural Resources and I will be transitioning to a new job soon and I am ready to just shut it all down. I am just burned out on this hobby. I have been as hard-core as one can be for the last 6-7 years. I've traveled as much as 4 hours each way just to buy livestock for my tanks, spent thousands and thousands on setup and upkeep and countless hours of labor and I am just tired of it. You guys can probably look for me to be posting a shutdown FS thread soon, but I've had 300 extra pounds of live rock for sale for over a month now at a good price and nobody is even interested so i may just load it all up and take it to Fuji's to see what I can consign.

Looking that way Reggie. I will likely get rid of all livestock, rock, pumps, skimmer, etc. and put the tanks in storage till I decide to get back into it later on. Just way too much going on in my life right now to be as focused as I once was. I've lost my vigor, lol.

Man, I always hate to hear of someone getting out of the hobby! I wish there was something I could do to talk you out of it!!! If you just need a break for awhile and want someone to give your livestock a temporary home, let me know!!! I'd be happy to keep it untill you are ready for it again!

I have a 300 gallon that's pretty empty, and two little dudes (6 and 8) that love to the tank. They help with everything!!! So let me know if you'd like your livestock fostered in Ohio for awhile.

Jason I hate to hear this but I've been there myself. Other priorities, demands and it goes down from there to complete burnout. Personally in the last year or so I've been get into it again. So it does happen.

I know you're FOWLR but my newest reef tank has totally captivated me again plus a few threads I've read with "old timers" who've validated many feelings I've had about the hobby since about 2005 or so.

You've kept some of fattest, happiest fish I've ever seen and it's been a joy to see your tanks over the years.

I've found my downgrdaed reef to be much easier to care for than my big fowlr was. I feed once a day, clean the glass every 5 days or so, and add topoff every week or two. If I wanted to add a bigger topoff I could go a month or 2. Maybe you should look at a small tank with fewer work. If you need any help just holler!
