Transporting coral

Hello reefing community
I am just wondering because i live in a small country town and i have no access to a marine shop. is coral of to be shipped of not???

I'm sure many will disagree, but I would never risk shipping corals. The closest (good) shops to me are at least a 1.5 hour drive one way. Gear, yes- but corals and fish are worth the ability to control conditions and personally inspect as much as possible in my view.

I sure wouldn't order anything until summer, in any event.

All of my Acropora and fish have been shipped overnight. I've had very few DOA over the years, but it does occur. Depending on your location and the vendor of choice, you would want to be sure there aren't any extreme temperatures as @kfisc referenced above.

And be sure to choose vendors wisely to be sure of good stock.

As long as you watch your temps, you should be good. Some decent places I’ve bought from is Battle Corals (for SPS), and AquaSD (corals were smaller and photos a little embellished). I haven’t ordered from any of our sponsors, but generally RC sponsors have a good reputation
