Tunze Stream Failure Help!

Bought the Tunze Stream Kit 6010 from Marine Depot July 26th. The pump and controller have been working great until tonight. The driver box started emitting a loud tone like a smoke detector, so I unplugged and re-plugged in the unit. The noise quit, but I noticed the pump is no longer working. I tried reconnecting all the cables and checked for water on the driver box to no avail. I need some suggestions to get the pump working again. Any help would be great! This is the stream 6000 with the single channel controller.

Additional info: I took the pump out, the prop turned easily by hand. Remove the parts for a cleaning, there was minor calcerous buildup which I removed, reassembled and put the pump back in the tank. Plugged the unit back in without the controller and there goes the smoke alarm sound! The pump is still not turning, so I am at a dead end. Need help.

Be sure the magnetic rotor is not cracked. Double check that the part labeled 3h on page 48 of your manual is free of part 3g, they should be seperable and rotate freely on each other. In general the alarm is a safety feature and it indicates the rotor is stuck. I would be sure their is no clacium in the senter of the magnet as well since this will prevent water from entering the pump and give a run dry alarm.

Roger, the rotor is not cracked and part 3g is stuck inside the unit. Should it come out? I took the prop unit and used a little force while turning it in the main body, put it back in the water and presto, it works! Must be some kind of buildup in the back of the unit by part 3g. I appreciate the quick response.

Yes, part 3g should come out. I suspect that some calcium grit raised the friction levels to the point the sensor system in the motor thought their was a problem and stopped the pump and sounded the alarm. You might soak it all in vinegar to get it real clean.
