Turbelle 6080 Problem

I've had this pump a little over a year. Starting about a month ago the pump would not restart after I unplugged it. I'd take it apart, rinse off the impeller put it back on and it would start.

Now all of a sudden it just will stop working. Again, messing with the impeller will eventually get it to start again. Now I am doing this every couple of days or so.

Just got home from work tonight and its dead again. Don't feel like messing with it tonight. Any suggestionns to keep this thing working? BTW it has been cleaned often.

It sounds like there is a mechanical problem with the drive unit, I would follow the procedure for complete dissassembly and inspect the brake shoes. I would make sure the upper bearing is not sticking to the magnet- number one cause of stoppages. I would make sure the magnet is not cracked. Make sure the lower bearing is firmly inserted. Clean all parts including the bore with full stregth white vinegar- UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE USE STRONG ACID. If you can't get it send it to me but do not leave it plugged in if it is not running, this can damage the pump in the long run.

I have checked everything you have mentioned. I did notice a hairline crack running horizontally across the magnet that I hadn't noticed before.
Also I am not sure where the upper bearing is and is the lower bearing attached to the drive unit? It looks in the manual to be a seperate piece that goes inside the bore.
Anyway its probably not working properly due to the crack in the magnet. Where can I get a new magnet and how much?

Also, I have gotten it to run again and am currently using it. Is this OK or should I not use it until I get it fixed?
