Turbinaria peltata and mucus

I know than turbinaria peltata (cup coral) is known for producing a lot of mucus when touched, but I notice that it even produces a lot of mucus when fed. Is this normal or is it a sign that he (or she!?) doesn't like the food?

What are you feeding it? Often a coral will release mucous to rid itself of unwanted debris (in this case, perhaps, food). In other words, the debris will get caught up in the mucous and float away.

I'm not target feeding it, I'm just releasing a liquified mix of seafood, mysis, cyclopseeze, phytoplankton, etc. into the tank.
