I only have one SPS coral in my softie dominated tank. I really like it and it is the centerpiece of my tank. I have seen some great pieces that are made of several layers. Is there any way to get it to grow that way? Anyone have pics of theirs? Have I properly identified this coral?

yup, you ID it right...Tubinaria reniformis (scroll coral). Mine seems to scroll up towards to the light with good flow. Here is an older pic of it....it's a few inches bigger now........

I am seeing the same thing. It was flat when I got it. Now it is "cupping" up to the light. Also, on the far side, there was some damage done by an agressive button polyp. It healed quickly and added some neat texture to that side. It really opens up when I feed invert food or mysis shrimp.

Anyone else have pics of this super cool coral?

Frag it. A dremmel works well. Slice off a piece or as many layers as you want.

Hey reefrick,

Are those polyps always extened that much? Mine are usually only like that when it is feeding. I thought I had enough light but maybe I dont...

When I first put it in I would see the most PE at night after the lights went out. Now what you see in the pic is what I have thru out the day also.

This was my absolute favorite coral when I first started out. You can attain the ridge-like growth with more turbulent flow.

The Yellow Scroll is an LPS, and you'll probably get more responses if you post this in the LPS Keepers forum.
