Two mantis in one tank with divider?

Hello,

I have a 20 gallon that I am going to be putting my mantis into. I was considering putting a dark divider in the middle and drill a bunch of small holes in it and putting a second mantis in the tank on the other side.

Will the mantis know the other maintis is in the tank as well? Do they give off any sounds or scents or anything in the water? I don't want the mantis hiding all the time because it thinks there is another one near by.

Anyone else tried this?

Thanks!

We keep up to half a dozen O. s. in a tank with dividers. They certainly know that there are others in the tank, but that does not inhibit activity. If anything, it increases it. HOwever, there is a risk. Just last night one of my O.s. molted and the animal in the next compartment broke through the divider, killed and ate it. We use plastic eggcrating for dividers. Unfortunately, it won't stop a hungry O.S. that smells lunch. Also, the dividers should be at least three inches above the water line;. We have had lots of animals jump/climb over lower partitions.
