Has anyone ever used anything for the baffles in their sump besides acrylic or glass? The only reason I am asking is my sump is quite large and after pricing out the sheets of acylic I need to make the baffles (I picked the thinest size that did not bend when you picked it up) it will cost about $300. I am sure there one of you has had a great cost effective idea in the past. (And I am not at the least opposed to spending cash, just not wastefully)

Also, does anyone have the name of a product that you can use to glue(?) pieces of base rock together to form a more solid structure instead of just stacking.

Thanks

louiemarsh,

The price you quote for some acrylic baffles seems way too much.
For reasonable sized sumps, you can even get the acrylic from home depot.

I have priced acrylic, & I can build a complete 80 gallon Sump with baffles & built in fuge for ~$400 made from 3/8 cast acrylic.

For just baffles to cost $300 you must have a 1000 gal sump!

Here is a 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of 3/8" for $200:

As for the rock glue, you can use epoxy sticks - Marinedepot has it.
