Well, the last one went for about $1300. This one may exceed it.
Yep, and I liked the "other one" way more too...

I'm guessing yall are talking about the one I bought, is it this one.

Yep, that's the spirograph. It's amazing in person, saw it myself, before it sold. The tye dye is also as amazing as the spirograph.

that's what I'm talking about, how do scoly's reproduce? we need to start aquaculturing that thing right now

IMO, I don't think they're the tip of the iceberg. I think these are the cream of the crop for scoly's. Doesn't get much better than what you're seeing.

oh no, i totally agree they dont get much better than this, i just feel like we might get more (quanity wise) high quality wise scolys. sorry for the mix up.

Not sure on how many will eventually make their way into the US. But it would be nice to see a bunch more to maybe drive the price down. As long as it doesn't effect the wild populations. That's another reason myself, along with several others would like to see propagation efforts go into these incredible scolymia corals. How many people would like to cut these awsome specimens up? I don't know many that would.

Did anyone see the one austinaquafarms sold for $799? IMO it is one of the the nicest I have ever seen. Those 2 are very nice also. That makes up the top 3 scolys I have seen.

Scolys are one of the hardest to find and collect Aussie corals. While visiting several suppliers there I would see several hundred acans and other corals while only seeing 10-20 total scolys on hand. They do not grow all together in the same place. They are spread throughout the reef. They are often not diving just to collect scolys. Rather, they just grab the few they can find while collecting the other corals. They are also very hard to collect without breaking. I wish we could get more of them, but it seems they are far and few between.

Steve: Well, considering my total dollar involvement in the hobby exceeds 2900 easily, that seems about right. Just wait until a bidding war starts for that?
PS. LSU LSU LSU..
But how does a college student AFFORD a 1200 buck coral? I could barely go to the movies & feed myself a couple of semesters. LOL

Yea I won the one you where referring too. I got it for $1210. I tell you what it totally looks bad a$$ in my tank. Now I guess I will have to buy this one to go on the other end of the tank.

Come on man......Now we need to see what it looks like in your tank. We know you have pics.

I think both Scolies are equally amazing but if I had to pick I would say that the Spirograph is my fave. I am really curious to see who will get the tye dye scolymia. It's kind of neat for a coral to gain so much notoriety before it even sells. It would be cool if the Tye Dye went to the same person who purchased the Spirograph so there would at least be some chance that they could reproduce sexually and produce a whole mess of crazy awesome scolymias.

These 2 sold on austin aqua farms...

IMO, the first one is nicer than the spiro and the tye dye. Sharkbyte1023 bought both of them. IIRC, he also has an impressive fish collection...

Well I guess I need to update my profile I'm not a student I have already graduated and working now. O hell yea LSU LSU LSU baby. I mainly collect rare corals and just had to buy this one. The only problem is that it doesn't inflate all the way. At night it releases its tentacles and I feed it but for some reason it doesn't expand during the day.

Hey Clint,
Ian is correct both of those scoly's from Matt @Austin Aqua Farms belong to me. Luckily i was sitting at my computer when the email notice went out. Looking foward to the pieces from you as well.
Later...Ken
