Tyler/East Texas Reefers

i bought a 75 gallon oceanic w/ a 30 gallon sump and a 25 gallon eclipse (aka the SH tank) for the g/f =-)

The 55 curently has marks DIY auto top off system on it, and i have a metal stand that is not included in the price but it probably wouldn't be that hard to get me to part with it =-)

Subline, how's the new tank coming along? Have you gotten your girlfriend's seahorse tank set up yet? We'll want to see pics of both. TR/Texas Rancher from marine and reef talk has quite a bit of experience with the seahorses as well as bump and a couple of other people. Between TR and bump they should be able to answer any question you might have.

Get ready with the pics!

Cindy

hey we moved . . . wierd.

Anyone know if a dwarf lion and any kind of puffer could go in a 29 gallon tank?
I have a brittle starfish that I think may be eating a couple of my fish so I want to take him out but not get rid of him.
I think an aggressive tank would be nice cause they are not as needing with the equipment.

The 75 is up and running!

I got a 30 gallon sump and i got three sea horses in the 30-37 gallon eclipse tank.

everything is well except my clown is getting non-protruding black spots and also bloches of discoloration, almost fading. not good.

does anyone want to buy a Rainbow Lori? got some pictures here if your intereasted

I believe they have all gathered in a new forum specifically for this group of people.

Marc,
The RODI filter is working out great so far, Thanks :D

I got an inline dual TDS meter for it and hooked it up the the RO and the DI outputs. I figured it really didn't matter what the water going into is so I didn't bother measuring that.

I also went to the pool store to get a chlorine test kit but it only went down to .5 , is that good enough or should I try to get something else?

Jeff, how are you new tanks doing?

Max is doing great still, I've got him in an eggcrate cage inside my tank right now cause I got a tomato clown from Carrol and Max was chasing it a lot so I put him in the cage till I can rearrange the rock.
I might just take the tomato out and put it in a 30 gallon though since I might have to take my starfish out anyway.
The singapore angel is doing great too. (we named him scooby)
he picks at the anemones from Kameron sometimes to take the food from them. I'm suprised he doesn't get stung by them. Anyone know if angels usually do that?

Japheth, did you test your source water for chlorine as well as after the unit? You should have a reading of zero. Whenever you test water of any RO unit, it should run for 60 seconds minimum, then collect a sample in a new clean container (disposable cup) for any readings you are trying to ascertain.

With new RO units, you have to let them run for a few gallons (3 to 5) and dispose of all that as the membrane is filled with a food preservative. This should be washed out of the system.

Remember, I'm not a sponsor of RC, so my comments above pertain to any unit. If you have specific questions directed to me about (not mentioned) be sure to PM or email me instead. ;)

I ran the first 2 hours worth down the drain to make sure that everything got out of it.
Would the test kit for chlorine that I mentioned above be good enough for an RODI unit?
I have the TDS meter inline so it can test the entire time the unit is running. I try to let it run a little bit before putting anything in the containers and make sure the reading is zero first.

Sweet looking birdy! I have two soloman island eclectus, and they keep my wife and I Hopin lol....Is the parrot talking yet?

I sold it the other day, but it was a sweet bird. didn't start talking yet.

Wow eclectus are beautiful. I'm sure you house must be very tropical =-)

Hey i just got my scuba diving certification the other day. Do you scuba dive Scuba Dog...

Both tanks are doing awesome.

Right now looking for a guy sea horse to start breeding.

Having a little trouble getting pods into the Fuge though

I have caulerpa or something like that in there and a bit of sand, i'm using the 75 watt 51k lamp that Melev recommended.

I have seen brittle stars in the tank but no pods yet =-) I got lots of pods in the display tank though...
