What is the easeist way to get the suction started on your U tube?

feed a piece of airline into it and suck the air out....

The U-tube must be submerged under water on the front side. You need to fit a length of air-line tubing like swims said a little more than half way through the u-tube, then you simply suck the air out causing the water to rise until it starts flowing...then pull the air-line tubing out without breaking the siphon.

another way is to fill both boxes with water. the fill the u-tube completely with water. then cover both ends with some plastic wrap. place the tube in place, pull off the plastic wrap, check for flow. this take some practice but it does work
