Hello all, could you please help me in recommending an Ultravoilet Sterilizer that I can add to my 180 gallong aquarium. I just had an ich outbreak and would like to prevent this from happening again. Thank you.

Im sorry but I seriously doubt that an 18 watt UV would do much for your 180 gallon tank. ESPECIALLY if you're trying to deal with ich! 18 watts is just not enough strength for that size of a tank, I dont care what its rated to. I have a 40 watt gamma on my 125 and I think its perfect. If I were you I would consider AT LEAST the 36 watt Coralife. Or if you want better quality equipment go with a Current Gamma, or even better an Aqua UV, thay make a 57 watt I believe. I know some people might bash me for what Im saying but just my opinion.
If youre trying to handle parasites I would think you would want the strongest possible unit. Especially since you have puffers and other "aggressives" you should be ok. My 40 watt is on a tank with puffers that had a SERIOUS outbreak of ich. In a few days after I installed it it got better. JUst remember that if youre trying to kill parasites and diseases you need to throttle the flow rate WAYYYYYYYYYY back. My 40 watter recommends something like 2000 GPH! thats insane! I have it running with about 200 GPH! Water is crystal clear.
Just remember that a UV wont solve your ich problems on its own. I beat my battle with ich through lots of water changes, vitamins and the UV.
