Urgent help with Bubble King skimmer

I got a Bubble King skimmer recently & am having problems tuning it. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
I'm having to rise the water level very high for the bubbles to reach up to the skimmer cup. There is a tornado effect within the skimmer body. I have tried all adjustments & nothing seems to work. It feels like there is more water than air in the chamber.

This is not a brand new skimmer so there is no problem with breaking in.

Any recommendations please.

+1 on cleaning it. make sure the venturi is clean and free to pull air, very often they can get clogged with salt creep. there still may be a short break in period for any skimmer that has been cleaned.

Here's the manual for the skimmer, maybe it will help! It could be that the wedge pipe needs to be rotated or something. Also, there is a little indention in the front of the pump (by the intake) and another indention in the piece of pipe that's screwed into it. If those two do not line up, it will choke the air intake. To check that, screw the pipe into the intake all the way, then loosen it until those two dots line up. I had that problem when I first fired it up.

BK Deluxe Internal Manual

first screw the venturi all the way in and unscrew it until the dots are aligned. Next set the riser pipe just slightly lower than the lid (see Pic). leave the wedge pipe all the way open for now.
I just know this skimmer pretty good, as you can see in the pic it is a beast
The is a BK 250 correct?
