Used Tank price Thoughts

So I'm looking at an Oceanic 180g drilled tank with stand. I've attached pictures for references. It has two internal overflows and is drilled in the bottom of the tank with six holes. The stand is in decent shape and the tank looks good. Just one deformity in the glass. Do you think $700 is a good deal?

Does it have all the plumbing for the smaller holes?
Also that end with the blemish on the glass panel looks pretty big is that truly a tight seal?

It doesn't have any of the plumbing. I'm going to have to get all that for the sump I put in.

He said it has had no issues holding water for years of use.

I'd avoid this one. Why risk anything as big as 180g's flooding your house when there's no guarantee or warranty?

I'm a fan of new gear unless you know and trust the seller very well.

I would definitely be buying everything else new. But do you think that imperfection is bad enough to warrant skipping on it?

Yes. At least for that kind of money, the seller might be willing to demonstrate the tank is ok by filling it and letting it stand for a day or two? Probably a big ask from a seller, but it just seems like an odd flaw to me. It looks like it's even been chipped at that spot at some point. The next bump (in your house) could spell disaster. I haven't seen anything like it before.

I have seen damage like this before. It may seem small but trust me, this tank is a huge risk. It weakens the glass and WILL fail with time. It will spawn a crack out from that spot across the end panel and start a slow leak then a catastrophic failure within hours or days.

Thanks guys. I heeded your advise and declined the sale. I actually ended up buying one today and will be picking it up Thursday. I think a much more complete package and overall much better shape

Thank you! Here are some pictures of my progress so far. I'm waiting on my AI Hydra 32HDs to come in and the mounting bar as well as my ATO that I should be picking up tomorrow.

Very nice! I like the clean/economy-of-space look of your plumbing and wiring especially.
